Picking up where “The Avengers” left Thor and his adopted brother Loki, “Thor: The Dark World” is an action-packed continuation of their story. Though not based on any specific Marvel comic or Norse myth, the movie draws influences from both, creating a unique storyline for itself.

The movie opens with a flashback that, much like in “Thor,” hints at the storyline of the movie, and despite the two hour run time of the film, it seems much shorter with it’s fast-paced action and epic battle scenes. The movie successfully incorporates alien technology and ancient weaponry, keeping in-line with the idea that the Norse gods are nothing more than an advanced alien race.

With very few slow scenes and just enough plot twists to keep you wondering through the whole movie which side Loki is on, “Thor: The Dark World” is a must-see continuation of the “Avengers” story and is the second of four films in Marvel’s Phase Two, leading up to “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in 2015.
