With over five film adaptations, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the most remade stories. The latest adaptation gives a more historically accurate picture of the tragic love story compared to the “modern day” 1996 version with Leonardo DiCaprio.

The combination of the beautiful background, engaging soundtrack, and excellent actors quickly draws the viewer in. The actors create a young attitude which breathes new life into the play. Hailee Steinfeld, being a mere 16 years old herself,  especially embraces the character of Juliet as a young girl who is quick to fall in love.

Between the beautifully crafted costumes and the Italian set, this film’s cinematography is breathtaking. The story, though predictable, is translated in an artistically crafted way while using a majority of the original plays text as a script.

Those who are not a fan of Shakespeare or Romeo and Juliet will not want to see this film. However, this movie will be enjoyed by Romeo and Juliet enthusiasts.
