The Scholar’s Bowl team rolled up to Lansing High School in KCC’s new smaller bus, or as junior Sophie Hill dubbed it, “the space bus” on Jan. 11. The team went on that day to lose, but still enjoyed themselves.

Before the actual main event, the team attempted to intimidate the other teams.

“We try to make the other teams uncomfortable, but it never really amounts to much,” Hill said.

For the main event, only five people can participate, but usually more than attend the meet. For the Lansing meet, six students represented the school: seniors Sam Peterson, Garrett Maddox, and Joel Conneally, and juniors Sophie Hill, Aubrey Johnston,  and JD Bickley.

The main event is like a “big trivia game” according to junior Ian Ko described.

“Scholar’s Bowl is nice because it doesn’t have as much of a competitive expectation,” Ko said. “It’s just more chill.”

There were five teams at the meet, and each team has one game with the other teams. The team won three of their five matches.

Although the team did not do very well at Lansing, they hope for better at their meet at Marantha Jan. 19.
