Here on the Paw Print staff, it seems that appreciating a good cup of joe is a prerequisite. To all you coffee connoisseurs, next time you consider getting a fix at Starbucks, why not try something new and go local?

The Roasterie: The Best Brew

You can’t call yourself a true Kansas Citian without visiting the Roasterie at least once. If there is one coffee brand associated with our great city, this is it. With two locations (Brookside and Leawood), the Roasterie boasts an urban-cool vibe. While this coffee joint produces excellent speciality drinks, as well as a wide assortment of delectable treats, the Roasterie’s signature blends are quite underrated. I actually prefer a cup of  the “Betty’s Recipe” blend over my typical order of a latte, as that blend offers a uniquely sweet, cinnamon-sugar taste. In fact, all of the Roasterie blends can be purchased in grocery stores of the KC Metro area.

Coffee Girls Cafe: Best All-Around

Coffee Girls Cafe is the hidden gem of Kansas City coffee shops. Tucked away on a side street just off of 75th and Wornall, it is a destination spot. Coffee Girls offers excellent signature espresso drinks with options of soy and almond milk, as well as boasts freshly made smoothies and juices. Not only that, they have tasty breakfast and lunch meal options. This coffee shop consists of indoor and outdoor seating, with large table space ideal for studying or working.

Hi Hat Coffee: Best for a Quiet Coffee Date

Located off of 50th and State Line, this little shop offers next to none indoor seating. Therefore, on a nice spring Saturday morning, Hi Hat is ideal for sitting on it’s patio with friends. It offers unique signature drinks, like “The Irishman” and “Sandstone,” as well as teas. This small brick building in the calm Westwood Hills is a prime spot for good conversation.
